    |
|
When I first bought the Apple MacIntosh 128, I was stunned to learn that I could “UNDO” my last command in MacPaint.
How wonderful computer life for me became, when I could do my graphics and undo my actions whenever I chose, even if it was one solitary "UNDO".
Life in our times is not as forgiving to our human selves.
We mis-speak, or are misquoted, and those words can determine our image and reputation for the rest of our lives, it seems.
The President of the United States mis-spoke, possibly: the Cambridge incident...
Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but I choose to allow for my friends, and my acquaintences, and my President, Barack Obama, to “UNDO” his mistakes, including his "stupidity" remarks about the Gates incident.
And I choose to “UNDO” callous remarks that persons of uniform have made to me, that have attempted to cripple me. And I have spiritually asked for forgiveness for mis-speaking of my own, hurting persons who did not deserve such negativity.
I forgive them their human-errors, and I ask forgiveness for my own mistakes. We are human beings.
We have more important issues to talk about, including the death toll in Afghanistan, the war blustering of North Korea, the rising unemployment rates, the lack of new jobs, the energy plan which seems to be stalemated, the health care plan which should not be rushed.
I forgive you, gladly, Mr. President.
And I don’t want to go into the terrible truth of America, that we are a much-divided nation, most often by color, often by gender (women are indirectly targeted), and too often by sexual preference, AND CERTAINLY by financial status.
And I don’t want to go into, and I have promised not to talk about, what life threatening horrors came upon my sons, in two different states, by persons of uniform, that have effected them to this day.
I will give you, the reader this much: “As I live and breathe, my sons are alive today because they are White, and not Black or Latino.” I am NOT making this up.
Need I go into what I have been told this 2009 year, ...”Blacks cause most of the crimes”, and “Blacks are dirty (hah, hah!)”.
Walking down the street, if you are African American or Latino, in neighborhoods within 30 miles of me, is precarious if Police are passing by. We are still a segregated, theatening society in too many locations, in too many ways.
Strike me dead if I am wrong.
Enough said, two videos:
First one, a typical Police beat down, but not so typical stories behind it.
http://www.northjersey.com/multimedia/video/47054637.html
The first shows a Black pedestrian being told by a Police cruiser officer to zip up his jacket. He complies, and for some unknown reason, the Police Officer gets out and clubs down the man.
Two, the man who is later identified as a Schizophrenic, never having been arrested before, is beat down with a stick, but rises up to face his attacker, face to face. What an American!
Story three, the attacking Police Officer is an Iraqi war vet, who it is later claimed has Post Traumatic Stress issues.
Story four, other officers arrive, and they protect the victim from the aggressive Police Officer, while still allowing the arrest to continue!
Story five, the partner Police Officer does not intervene, but did not participate in the beating, and might also be tugging at his shoulder, as in... "Chill out" (but I can't tell)
Story six, the Police report claims that the man zipping up his coat attacked the Police Officer causing injuries, etc. Then the video tape showed up, explaining the true events of the attack.
How rich is this story line? These kinds of stories happen across America, I believe, every hour of the day. The biggest news of this video is that the OTHER POLICE OFFICERS PROTECTED THE VICTIM!!! When did I ever see this before? And the female partner seems to have tried to calm her partner down!
It is no secret, some Police Officers carry the attitude that “being racist is the macho way to be”, and being aggressive and rude towards minorities is their ENTITLEMENT. Reason? Simply, simply, because the person is of a dark color. Period.
The excellent news is that Other good Police Officers are working within the system to straighten out the corruption.
Second video, Sam Cooke from Mississippi, 1962 or so... “Nobody knows the trouble that I’ve seen”

Justy, thanks for the answer on the AF issue.
Derek, I was unaware that anyone in the Gates situation was accused of not telling the truth to anyone, only that persons had made unfortunate critical comments while not knowing the whole story.
Your opinions are completely valid, but I personally don't share the idea that anyone lied to anyone.
And your comment that Presidents aren't human, one could read that as sincere, deep, philosophical, truthful opinion, or one could say it is spamming and trolling and silliness.
So could I ask for an explanation on the "lies" and "non-human" comments?
Its an amazing world we live in:
Example one, the NY Daily News this week carrying an opinion from a retired police officer that "Yes, he did racially profile" when arresting young white teenagers from New Jersey buying drugs in Harlem, while at the same time "Blacks commit most of the crime"!
Example two: Today in the Stamford Advocate, an amazingly wonderful explanation from a Black journalist of her personal experiences of being subjected to harrassment and threat of arrest, even when asking for assistance from the Police!
So Derek, yours is as valid an opinion as anyone else, maybe more so, and I suspect your point of view is EXTREMELY relevant to the sad truth in America.
So who lied to whom, and why is the President "not human"? _________________ Ed Ziomek |

Just trying to get something going here, more than I was up for a debate. I don't have all the facts but I can prejudge stupidly anytime. Calling someone stupid when the facts say they are not. Defamation of character, I've got that labeled under lie.
Yep, truthful opinion. I've seen enough to say with confidence, the current President of the United States of American has acts stupidly on a regular basis. It appears that running for president and being the president are now, two different Obamas. No, extreme thinking there, just a layfolk politics, now shared with plenty of people.
We elected a two year junior senator from the center of political corruption, Chicago. Sad truth, we vote stupidly.
You leave your humanity at the door when you step in the office of the POTUS. It's an icon, and the human that once was is now an object. _________________ An event is to chaos as function is to form. n/a

Derek,
Your points of view are fascinating, and you have every right to express them, it's a free country...
"You leave your humanity at the door when you step in the office of the POTUS. It's an icon, and the human that once was is now an object."
I think if you polled 100,000 Americans, you would get many descriptions of the President, but I think the adjective of "object" would be singularly rare on the list, and yet still important as a valid opinion.
I appreciate your comments, and any further comments, feel free to post, but just as that "beer discussion" at the White House ended ..."We agree to disagree". _________________ Ed Ziomek |

Thanks Ed, I don't get into politics unless I know I'm right. The vast majority of americans aren't as intelligent as me and I have the test scores to prove it too. Even I gotted duped into voting for Obama. You can see my transition to enlightenment in a few other threads here.
Obama is a one hit wonder.
Cheers
