RE: Powercadd 6 on OS10.4.11 G4dual
this may seem like a very basic issue but suddenly I am unable to make any changes to layer color selections within in the layer window.
Edit all Layers is checked
I double click on a layer (or choose edit)
make sure it is unlocked, I choose the new desired color, click on it,
click ok, nothing happens, the only way I am able to change colors is to have all layers unlocked and use the Default window color selector, but thats not really helping me manage colors/layers.
I have searched for a mysterious Preference or Drawing set up command that may be preventing me from doing this but to no avail???
I reloaded the program yesterday thinking it was a program glitch but nothing has improved,
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yes, we had the same problem. My partner was using six and kept asking: why can't I change colors. I couldn't figure it out.

After phone calls to Eng. Software we got it to work, sort of, on one drawing, but eventually went back to get something done using PC 2000. When we started using PC-6 again it was back to the behavior you describe and we forgot, if we ever understood how to correct it. It left us feeling that some old things worked pretty darn well.

I would suggest that this is a bug in the program... but it's not one that anyone has much interest in correcting. The problem went away when we loaded PC-7 on her machine. But even PC-7 left her saying, "it's so slow" and longing for the old machines. It may be that the "click, pause, wait," is just part of OS 10. I've notice a similar feel with Sketch-up, but maybe those with PC-8 and brand new machines no longer are bothered by these delaying actions.

Good luck.

Hi,

I have the same setup but using a MBP. I used to have a G4 Powerbook but have never seen a problem like this. If I'll let you know if I think of something.

As to speed, certainly the application has been slower with each version. Maybe 8 is the fix. SU for me is not bad at all, until I start piling up on polygons (trees, usually). Everyone is hoping that will improve with v. 7.

The answer to both questions might be more powerful machines.

I actually feel there is now no reason for me not to move on to 8--which might help with hatch speed--but I cannot disclose when that will happen.

Peter

This sounds like a problem that came up when Tiger (10.4) was introduced, and ES released an update to PC 6 to address it. You might double check the version # of your copy of PC.
