I am doing my intership and I have no idea on how to draw a foundation. The project is a deisal machanic shop, I have every thing drawn except the foundation and the electrical, our CAD professor just resighned and left me with no one here with any real understanding on architectual CAD drawing. The best help I could get would be an old print of a foudation evelation. In addition to all of this I only have AutoCAD 2009 at home. I am going to be using 10500 psi concrete and it has to withstand loads in excess of 5-6 tons. Please any help would be apreciated.

REMEMBER THAT CAD IS JUST A DRAFTING TOOL, SAME AS A PENCIL, YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO USE THE LIBRARIES WITHIN THE PROGRAMS, THEN YOU CAN IMPORT DETAILS AND SPECIFICATIONS TO FIT YOUR DESIGNS.

AS FOR FOUNDATION YOU COULD USE "ARCHITECTURAL GRAPHIC STANDARDS" IN LINE OR GET THE BOOK FROM THE SCHOOL LIBRARY, IT HAS THOUSANDS OF DETAILS FROM FOUNDATIONS TO ROOFS, ETC.

You could also try to find a structural engineering forum, student even! & ask there.

The answer to that question is huge and requires structural analysis and you as an intern should not be designing foundations without a lot more experience and book knowledge
