Any optimism on the US political front?

Biden's predictions could be plagiarized. This sounds like wishful thinking on Powell's part.

Wings are for birds.

I posted it before, but Abe Lincoln on his inauguration, facing such a hugely divided country, named all his adversaries onto his Cabinet, to help him in the upcoming disastrous relations within the United States.

Obama, should he win, and he probably will at this point, has stated he will balance out all his appointments with both Republicans and Democrats.

First objective... Get everybody on the same page.

Remember Biden's words from two weeks ago, about this presidency being tested by CONTRIVED events, and I say those can come from any direction, including internal.

I think Obama "gets it".

He will most likely move quickly to reassure conservative Americans that his administration will not be "far left" at all. He is conservative, down to earth, came from the working class and is very smart. -The kind of person that made America what it is today and in the tradition of our founding fathers.

It will be nice to have a conservative in office. Bush was far too liberal.

"Yes, we can."

Feels like Christmas to me. In fact it did so for all of yesterday.

So, how to deal with the "haters" -- those who would have stamped on a baby before they would vote for a black man, or someone whose faith seemed to be different from theirs, or . . . ?

They're still out there. Mad. Entrenched.

How to bring them into the light ?

Bomb them further back to the stone age and grab the oil, if they have any.

I don't think it is possible to eliminate hatred. These people who hate have severe mental problems.

But, Obama stretched out the olive branch last night and I see both sides shaking hands and making up and moving on.

We all know we need to run a balanced budget and work to reduce the deficit. We all know that energy is a looming problem and so is health care and social security. I think most people feel that we need to reduce our military and concentrate on terrorism.

I saw honor and dignity from both Obama and McCain last night.

Pelosi can take note. She's rotten to the core.

A left "pile on" is not what this country needs.

I think the democrats will learn from the past eight years what not to do.

Bah! they are in power now. All stary eyed and ready to shove new policies down our throat. I doubt they will be wanting to learn anything. I'm not happy with Dems in complete control.

It's the republicans who got the good lesson from the last eight years.

" ready to shove new policies down our throat" ? Rotten to the core ? Oh dear -- have you been listening to Rush Limbaugh ? I hope not.

Realists won't expect either magic or mayhem from a "new" White House and/or Congress. The economy didn't change last night, nor the environment or the energy situation or the infrastructure. There's a LOT of work to do -- but it can't hurt that a new spirit may animate the proceedings.

The fear that has been instilled in the "red states" by those who hoped to "lead" won't go away overnight, and in fact may now be festering with renewed vigor, by those who just can't let go of it. And we've been warned, by everyone including the President-elect, that things may get worse before they get better.

No ditto head here. I'm a nerd like you spending time on forums not the radio.

Mind you, I was a Ron Paul republican. I voted for Obama because I believe what he said, he would do. I read his lips. If it's a gimmick and it becomes Pelositized, then I calling him a liar.

I do listen to the garbage that comes out of Pelosi's big fat lying mouth enough to call it garbage.

Al is looking a little fat lately, I can't tell from the pic if he is lying, but I'll just assume he is.

This is going to be fun. Laughing I'm optimistic.

Even in ultra liberal Minnisota, and under the tails of Obama, people can smell democratic lies, barely.

Good on you Viking fans for not electing trash mouth liars, make sure they don't cheat on the recount.

Time to call the Dems on thier scum, now they have the power.
